Fugitive Extradited To Bergen Co. On Child Sex Assault Charges: Police

Jesus Restrepo was extradited to the U.S. to face charges related to the repeated sexual assault of two children in Bergen Co., police said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A man wanted on 2014 sexual assault charges in Bergen County was just extradited from Colombia to the U.S. to face prosecution, according to authorities.

Jesus Restrepo, 57, formerly of Englewood, was accused in 2014 of repeatedly sexually assaulting two children, one of whom was 13 and the other who was 12, in the city. A Bergen County Grand Jury indicted him on related charges in May 2017, yet he fled the country before he could be arrested, Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Restrepo, in February 2020, was arrested in Colombia pursuant to a red notice issued by international police organization Interpol and was detained in the South American country, pending extradition back to the U.S., the prosecutor's office said.
