A synthetic opioid mix was found in the possession of a man wanted for escape who was accused of assaulting officers, Ramsey police said.

RAMSEY, NJ — An escapee wanted by the U.S. Marshals was arrested last week in Ramsey after he became physically aggressive with an officer and was later found to be in possession of cocaine and a synthetic opioid mixture called "grey death," Ramsey Police Chief Brian Lyman said.

Darcy Copeland, 40, of Monticello, New York, was remanded to the Bergen County Jail on numerous charges that include intent to distribute narcotics, aggravated assault on a police officer, and driving under the influence.

Copeland, who, police learned, is wanted by federal law enforcement for escape, has an "extensive" criminal history that includes charges of second-degree murder, drug trafficking, resisting arrest and assault, Lyman said.
