High Schoolers Win Mahwah Republican Club Essay Contest
Essay posed a question about representative government in America.
The following was submitted to Patch by the Mahwah Republican Club.
The Mahwah Republican Club has announced the winners of its "2014 High School Essay Contest." The topic for the essay was, "Why did the founders choose representative government? Do you agree? Why? If not, what should they have developed?"
First place was awarded to Alissa Puzo, age 18 from MHS, $750.
Second place to Emily Galow, age 18 from MHS, $375.
Third place to Kaajal Sagak, age 18 from MHS, $200.
The students and their families were recognized at an awards ceremony on May 28, hosted by the Mahwah Republican Club.
"We are very encouraged and thankful for the participation of Mahwah's youth in this contest," said Club Secretary Bob Lockwood.
"We hope to continue to make the scholarship drive and essay contest an annual event. We would like to thank all of the participants and congratulate the three winners."
