How Many Snow Days Do Mahwah Schools Have Left?

What happens when all the snow days are used? Find out.

As Winter Storm Linus forced Mahwah Schools to close Monday and have a delayed opening Tuesday, it’s time to ask: how many snow days does your school district have? And what happens if all of the snow days are used?

According to Mahwah Superintendent of Schools C. Lauren Schoen, the school district has four snow days built into the school calendar and has already used three.

If the Mahwah School District runs out of snow days, they will be taken from Spring Break recess, which, according to Schoen, is scheduled to run from April 6 - 10.

Schoen says that if an extra snow day is needed, they will begin taking it from the Friday in spring break, which is April 10. If a second extra snow day is needed, it will be taken from Thursday, April 9 and so on.

And if no more snow days are used, the extra day will be piled onto the Memorial Day Weekend break - allowing students and teachers to have an extra day off.

However, with February just beginning, there might be possibility the school district will be forced to use its last snow day.

“We have one more day,” Schoen said. “Fingers crossed.”
