Ice Skating Rink Debate at Standstill

The MMA has yet to respond to letters sent by the Council asking for clarification on their donation.

The debate on the ice skating rink was at a standstill at the Mahwah Township Council meeting last week since the MMA has yet to answer the council’s letters, which asked for clarification about the MMA’s donation of the rink.

Mayor Laforet, who is also on the MMA board, said they have not responded yet because inclement weather has prevented them from meeting since the letters were sent, NorthJersey.com reported.

The letters came after the MMA donated the ice skating rink to the Township in February, which was closed due to the Council’s safety concerns, Mayor William Laforet said in a nixle alert. The Council said they were never presented the ice skating rink’s plans and that it lacks proper supervision.
