Inmate Accused Of Sex Assault Served Child Porn Charge: Bergen Police

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Morris County accountant, already in jail on child sexual assault charges from early 2022, was hit with a separate child pornography charge, according to authorities.

Amit Bhatt, 43, of Morris Plains, was served the additional charge Thursday, while detained at Morris County Correctional Facility, where he remains pending an initial court appearance, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.

Bhatt was previously arrested in connection with a sexual assault of a child younger than 13 in Lyndhurst. He was charged on Jan. 25 with second-degree sexual assault by contact and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, the prosecutor's office said.
