Mahwah Boasts Two Champion Softball Teams

The township honored both the 14A team and 14B team. Both won the county championships.

Two Mahwah Youth Softball teams made a name for themselves this season, and they were honored for their achievements in the township this week.

The 14A team won the Bergen County Softball championship in its division, and the 14B team won the Bergen County Girls Softball Championship in its division.

Thursday night, the mayor and township council presented individual awards to the girls on both teams.

The 14A team was coached by Lee Ehlermann, Tom Dudek, Joe Corra, Scott Wichard, Brian Forgette, and Ken Hollins. It featured players Christy Altomare, Emily August, Alexis Corra, Kayla Devine, Allison Dudek, Brenna Forgette, Emily Hattem, Stephani Kantanas, Morgan Morris, Lauren Stern, Lexi Varrato, and Hannah Wichard.

The 14B team was coached by Ken Gyongyosi, Tom Durso, John Devine, Jerry Pryor, Joe Morgan, and John Altomara. Players are Christina Altomara, Valery Bognar, Isabella Devine, Julia Devine, Isabelle Durso, Lindsay Gilchrist, Emily Gyongyosi, Madison Kolich, Amanda Morgan, Isabella Orlandoni, Emily Pryor, and Britney Swedelson.
