Mahwah Man Awaiting Tax Fraud Sentencing Arrested for Same Crime, Report Says
Man allegedly filed false tax returns, report says.
A Mahwah man convicted of filing false tax returns was arrested again this week for allegedly committing the same crime again, nydailynews.com reported.
According to the report, Joseph Barrios, who owns JB Tax, Inc. in the Bronx, was awaiting sentencing when he got nabbed for allegedly filing more false reports. Barrios was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of offering a false instrument for filing, two counts of attempted grand larceny, and one count of attempted tax fraud, the report said.
From 2009 to 2013, the state Department of Taxation and Finance found that Barrios had filed more than 5,000 returns, and had recovered $6 million in phony refunds claimed on those returns, the report said.
