Mahwah Municipal Alliance Donates Ice Skating Rink to Township

It is unclear what the donation means for the controversial ice skating rink, which was closed due to the Council's safety concerns.

The Mahwah Municipal Alliance has decided to donate the ice skating rink to the Township of Mahwah for “the future use and enjoyment by the many children and parents.”

In a letter addressed to Council President John Roth, the MMA stated “Over the past decade the Mahwah Municipal Alliance has made many contributions to our community and in continuing with that spirit we are donating the ice rink to the Township of Mahwah.”

It is unclear what the donation means for the controversial ice skating rink, which was closed due to the Council’s safety concerns, Mayor William Laforet said in a nixle alert. The Council states they were never presented the ice skating rink’s plans and that it lacks proper supervision.
