Mahwah Schools Expected To See Increase In State Aid
Gov. Phil Murphy's administration released the proposed state aid numbers for every school district in the 2019-20 school year.
MAHWAH, NJ — Mahwah Public Schools can expect to see a hefty increase in their state aid for the upcoming school year.
Gov. Phil Murphy's administration this week released the proposed state aid numbers for every school district for the 2019-20 school year.
Mahwah is expected to see a 7.1 percent increase. The district would receive $2.8 million in state aid, an increase of more than $191,000.

Only two Bergen County school districts are slated to see a drop in state aid. Englewood could receive 5 percent less money than it did this year, or $9.1 million, and Leonia could see a 1.2 percent drop, or $45,000 less.
Overall, state aid would increase 2.43 over the 2018-19 school year under a plan that requires approval from the state Legislature. That number would be smaller than the 3.5 percent increase Murphy originally proposed last year, but that original plan had no state aid cuts for any district.
