Man Shot, Killed By Police Serving Warrant For Bergen Co. Murder Attempt: AG's Office
An attempt to serve an arrest warrant on a Bergen Co. attempted murder suspect left one man dead, and two officers injured, officials said.
ELMWOOD PARK, NJ — Police fatally shot a man on New Year's Eve at a Morris County motel while trying to execute a search warrant for a recent Elmwood Park attempted murder charge, according to authorities.
Two Morris County Sheriff's officers exchanged gunfire with an unidentified man in the motel on Route 46 in Pine Brook, leaving the individual dead and both officers hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, the New Jersey Attorney General's Office said Sunday.
Elmwood Park detectives ascertained that the attempted murder suspect, 61-year-old James Allandale, was inside a room in the motel, following a days-long manhunt, authorities said.

As Morris County officers entered around 7:14 p.m., the shots rang out, and the "male civilian" was pronounced dead around 7:27 p.m., authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is being released at this time, the AG's office said.
