Men Accused of Supplying Lethal Dose of Heroin Plead Not Guilty, Report Says

Two are charged with manslaughter and other charges connected to the overdose death of an Allendale 22-year-old earlier this year, report says.

Two men from Paterson who are accused of providing a lethal dose of heroin to an Allendale man that died earlier this year pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and liability for a drug-induced death, NorthJersey.com reported.

The latter charge is one that targets drug dealers as killers if prosecutors can prove that the drugs they provided killed overdose victims, the report said.

According to the report, lawyers for Timothy Volpe, 20, and Kaleik Easton, 19, entered their pleas at an arraignment in Hackensack Monday.

The two are accused of providing Brendan Cole, 22, who died of a heroin overdose in his parents' Allendale home in January, with the drugs that killed him, the report said. They are set to appear in court next on Sept. 8, after their attorneys will have had the opportunity to discuss a potential plea deal, the report said.

Details on a possible deal have not yet been decided, a Superior Court Judge told NorthJersey.com.
