Cops Catch 2 New England Men Behind Route 17 Hotel With Piles Of Cash: Cops
Police in Bergen County are seeking a Maine and a New Hampshire man after confiscating their cash behind a Route 17 hotel.
MAHWAH, NJ — After police confiscated $19,000 in cash behind a Bergen County hotel this month, they're seeking a Maine and a New Hampshire man in connection with it.
The Mahwah police said that on July 9, around 4:15 p.m., Officer Timothy Knutelsky observed possible suspicious activity in a vehicle behind a hotel on Route 17.
He went to talk to the occupants, and noticed "indicators of criminal activity," police said.

Officers William Reardon, Greg Lehman, and Anthony LoFaro responded to assist, as did a K-9 unit.
Police found, inside the vehicle, $19,090 of US currency, "packaged in a manner consistent with criminal activity," they say.

"The parties gave conflicting stories as to what their intent was in possessing the money," police said.
Officers confiscated the money and released the two men to investigate the source of the cash.
After an investigation, arrest warrants were issued for: Jamil Goforth, 44, from Lewiston, Maine, and Jai Lebron, 45, from Brentwood, N.H.
They were charged with money laundering.
