Overnight Fire Reported At 2.5-Story Home In Bergen County: Police

An overnight fire ignited at a 1,900-square-foot home in Teaneck, police said.

TEANECK, NJ — An overnight fire ignited Tuesday in the upstairs bedroom of a 2.5-story house on Sussex Road, Teaneck police Capt. Seth Kriegel said.

A resident of the 1,900-square-foot house reported the fire at approximately 11:37 p.m. after reportedly hearing the fire alarm go off and discovering the fire.

The residents of the house, worth an estimated $550,000, safely evacuated, and Teaneck fire crews responded to extinguish the fire.

The cause and origin of the fire is still under investigation, though it does not appear, Kriegel said, to be suspicious.

No injuries were reported; however, a Teaneck firefighter was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
