Public Invited to Speak on Behalf of Mahwah Police Department for CALEA Accreditation March 16
Residents can also voice their comments by phone between 1 and 3 p.m. on March 16 or by sending a comment through mail.

A team of Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) will examine the Mahwah Police Department’s procedures, management and more, after the department is seeking reaccreditation status.
Noting that the accreditation is a “highly prized and sought recognition of excellence in the law enforcement community,” the Mahwah Police Department, which is only “one of a handful” in the state to be accredited, must comply with over 400 state and national standards to be considered, according to Chief James Batelli.
The accreditation “will build upon our outstanding reputation in the community while complementing and reinforcing our organizational values,” Chief Batelli said.
