Repeated Sex Assault Of Teen Girl In Bergen Co. Leads To Arrest: Police

A former Bergen County resident was charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a child on multiple occasions, police said.

NORTHVALE, NJ — A former Northvale resident who now lives in Oregon was charged in connection with the repeated sexual assault of a teenage girl, according to official records.

Alex Wheeler, 34, of Portland, was charged with second-degree sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

An investigation revealed Wheeler repeatedly sexually assaulted a girl, who was between the ages of 16 and 18 years old, from August 2016 to November 2017 in Northvale, court records state.

Court records said that the alleged sexual assaults include digital and penile penetration.

Wheeler was arrested Tuesday in Portland by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor's office and the Northvale Police Department, with help from Portland police, Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Wheeler was lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center in Oregon, pending extradition to Bergen County, Musella said.
