Risk Assessment Report on MMA Ice Skating Rink Released

A risk assessment report on the Mahwah Municipal Alliance ice skating rink claims the rink lacks proper signage and a heating system in restrooms and concession stand - but not much else.

The report b y J.A. Montgomery Risk Control consultant Ken Shulz does, however, call for a set of procedures on “how the ice surface will be maintained for safety reasons and who will be in charge” of its maintenance, NorthJersey.com reported.

The report also recommends ”the township ... establish rules and regulations for use of the rink.”

The report comes after Mahwah Mayor Laforet issued a nixle alert last week informing residents that the rink will close immediately “until the Township Council can provide a list of their concerns and how they wanted it corrected.”

Mahwah’s Township Council questioned the rink, saying they were never presented its plans and that it lacks proper supervision.
