Rotary Golf Outing Promises Auctions, Prizes, and a Chance to Give Back

The Bergen Highlands-Ramsey Rotary Club golf outing is next month, and is looking for golfers and sponsors to get involved.

The Bergen Highlands-Ramsey Rotary Club works with a bunch of charities throughout the year. The group donates to the Center for Food Action, puts together scholarships for kids in the five towns it serves, and works with the Gift of Life Foundation to help sick children around the world get to the US for life-saving surgery.

This September, the 50-member local arm of the international service organization is giving residents and businesses the chance to help out at its 9th ever Charity Golf Outing.

The outing, which happens every other year, is set for Thursday, September 19 at the Hackensack Golf Club.

“We do what we can to help people,” Rotarian Kevin O’Rourke, the chair of the Golf Outing Committee, told Patch. And, each year at the golf outing, “we are taken aback by how receptive the community is to helping us do the work that we do.”

The BHR Rotary Club is currently seeking both sponsors and golfers to get involved in the event.

Sponsors can get involved in various ways, including donating items to the tricky tray, silent auction, and live auction that O’Rourke says are some of the highlights of the event.

Golfers can look forward to events like a putting contest with a prize for the winner of taking home a Porsche for the weekend, a luncheon, dinner and dessert, and a day full of golf.
