Responding officers found the apartment’s tenant, Vanden L. Carter, 30, lying on the floor with multiple stab wounds to his torso, the prosecutor’s office said. Carter was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead later that night, authorities said.
Shortly after the call, police learned of another stabbing victim, Brewley, who had been treated at Holy Name Medical Center. Further investigation revealed Carter and Brewley were acquaintances and were at the apartment “when the two engaged in an altercation,” the prosecutor’s office said.
