BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A teen boy is "fighting for his life" after a bus full of kids crashed on the way to a wedding celebration on Monday, according to a Bergen County mayor and reports.

"A 14-year-old boy is fighting for his life...after being pinned under the overturned bus on the Parkway," said Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali on Tuesday. The state police said that the vehicle ran off the Garden State Parkway in Montvale just after 7:30 p.m.

The bus driver and 14 children on the bus were injured, one seriously, the state police told Patch on Tuesday.

Ghassali said there were 31 people on the bus in total, and that Rockland Hatzoloh Ambulance Corps took 13 boys to area hospitals.

The bus crash near mile marker 171.5 closed one lane of the Parkway Monday night, but the crash was cleared by Tuesday morning.

Patch reached out to the New Jersey State Police late Tuesday to find out if there were charges or updates in the crash, but they said they could not release further information at that time.
