Truck Catches Fire On NJ-17 In Mahwah, Delays Traffic Before Rush Hour

Investigation and response into the incident is still ongoing, officials said.

MAHWAH, NJ — A truck erupted in flames on Route 17 in Mahwah Wednesday afternoon, delaying traffic just before rush hour, according to state and local officials.

The tractor-trailer caught fire on the I-287 northbound ramp from Exit 66 (NJ-17) at about 2 p.m., according to the state's traffic monitoring service.

Investigation and response into the incident is still ongoing as of about 3:20 p.m., said 511NJ.org.

Route 17 North is closed, and motorists should expect delays on secondary roads, a Mahwah Township alert said.

It's unclear if anyone was injured.
