The Park Ridge Volunteer Fire Department posted on social media that the blaze was brought under control by 12:13 a.m.

“The presence of working smoke detectors quickly alerted the residents to the fire in their home,” said Park Ridge Fire Chief Richard Bosi. “This early detection and notification aided the Fire Department in keeping the fire contained to the garage and a small area of the basement.”

Firefighters received mutual aid from fire departments in Emerson, Hillsdale, Montvale, and Woodcliff Lake. While they fought the fire, firefighters from other towns provided fire coverage, including Saddle River, Old Tappan, and Pearl River, N.Y.

"The family was relocated for the night due to the extensive damage from the fire," Babcock said. But there were no injures from the fire, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, the Fire Department said.
