Volvo To Break Ground on New Technical Center In Mahwah
The Swedish automaker is making the first dig on construction of a technical training center and installation of electric vehicle chargers.
MAHWAH, NJ — Volvo Cars will break ground on a technical training center and installation of 50 electric vehicle charging stations on Friday at Volvo Car USA Corporate Headquarters in Mahwah, a company news release said.
Mahwah Mayor Jim Wysocki and Volvo Car USA President and CEO Anders Gustafsson will make the first dig on construction of the training center, which will enable the company to better support its retailers and their auto technicians. Volvo electric vehicles will also be available for test drives.
After 66 years in New Jersey, the Swedish company is expanding its footprint in the state, as it transitions to selling only electric vehicles, the news release said.

As Volvo moves to be fully electric by 2030, the news release said, the Garden State has become the "center of the company's transformation in Western Hemisphere."
Members of the company's Americas Executive Team, employees and local dignitaries, including U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer, will gather at 2 p.m. this Friday.
