MANALAPAN, NJ — Released by Manalapan police and unedited by Patch, all crimes and arrests from Aug. 11 to 17.

On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 5:10 p.m., a 29-year-old Manalapan resident reported being hired to provide legal services. The victim reported receiving a $275,500 check in the mail and was instructed to deposit the money, then wire the money to another location once the deposit had cleared. The check was found to be fictitious and the transaction was voided. No monetary loss was reported as a result of this incident. Patrolman Matthew Meyler took the report.

On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 3:30 p.m., a 19-year-old Freehold resident reported that unknown actor(s) punctured three tires on the victim’s vehicle while parked at an Alexandria Drive residence on August 16, 2021, between 9 and 10 p.m. The estimated cost of the damage was reported to be $693.83. Patrolman Matthew Meyler handled the investigation.

On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at approximately 2:13 p.m., a 63-year-old Manalapan Township resident reported that unknown actor(s) utilized their personal information to file for unemployment benefits. Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis handled the report.

On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at approximately 2:17 a.m., Patrolman Hayden Hrymack responded to a burglar alarm activation at Gordon’s Corner Liquors, located at 350 Route 9 in Manalapan. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown actor threw a rock through the two glass entrance doors. The estimated damage was reported to be approximately $2,000. On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Patrolman Adam Sosnowski was investigating a disorderly person report in the area of the Applebee’s Restaurant located at 55 Route 9. He subsequently identified Kyle E. Rossell, an unmarried, unemployed, 43-year-old male as the suspect in the Criminal Mischief incident. He was subsequently transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was charged with Criminal Mischief. Mr. Rossell was turned over to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a court appearance. Patrolman Hayden Hrymack handled the initial report, with a follow-up investigation by Detective Sergeant Freeman. Patrolman Adam Sosnowski was the arresting officer.

On Monday, August 16, 2021, at approximately 12:08 p.m., a 61-year-old Manalapan resident reported that unknown actor(s) completed fraudulent transactions on a debit card totaling $318. Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis took the report.

On Monday, August 16, 2021, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a 43-year-old Manalapan resident reported that an unknown actor filed an unemployment claim using the victim’s personal information. There was no monetary loss reported as a result of this incident. Patrolman Ross Dessel handled the report.

On Sunday, August 15, 2021, at approximately 2:09 p.m., a 71-year-old Manalapan Township resident reported being harassed by a 62-year-old Manalapan Township resident while on Cross Slope Court in Manalapan. No complaints were signed as a result of this incident. Patrolman James Joiner handled report.

On Friday, August 13, 2021, at approximately 1:16 p.m., a 57-year-old Manalapan Township resident reported that unknown actor(s) utilized their deceased family member’s personal information to file for unemployment benefits. Patrolman Kyle Williams handled the incident.

On Friday, August 13, 2021, at approximately 10:24 a.m., Patrolman Kyle Williams conducted a motor vehicle stop on Amberly Drive for a motor vehicle violation. An occupant of the vehicle, identified as Joseph Cuomo, a 52-year-old, unemployed, divorced, male resident of Manalapan, was found to have two warrants issued for his arrest by the Old Bridge Municipal Court in the amounts of $848. and $73. Mr. Cuomo was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released on his own recognizance pending a new court date. Patrolman Kyle Williams was the arresting officer.

On Friday, August 13, 2021, at approximately 9:06 a.m., a 54-year-old Manalapan resident reported that an unknown actor(s) filed an unemployment claim using the victim’s personal information. Patrolman Bart Mattaliano handled the initial report.

On Thursday, August 12, 2021, at approximately 10:10 a.m., a 48-year-old Manalapan Township resident reported that unknown actor(s) had opened an unemployment claim using their pedigree information. The amount of proceeds received if any is undetermined at this time. Patrolman Jeff Emslie handled the report.

On Thursday, August 12, 2021 at approximately 9:44 a.m., patrols from the Manalapan Township Police Department responded to a Demarest Drive residence for a reported smoke condition. Patrolman Joseph Defilippis and Special Law Enforcement Officer II Hunter Mauro responded to the residence with Manalapan Township Fire Company #1. It was determined that during the overnight hours a fire had ignited in the basement resulting in smoke damage throughout the residence. The total estimated value of damaged property is currently unknown. The Manalapan Township Fire Marshal and Manalapan Township Police Detective Bryan Belardo responded to investigate. The cause of the fire was deemed accidental in nature. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Patrolman Joseph Defilippis handled the initial investigation.

On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at approximately 12:09 p.m., a 74-year-old Manalapan Township resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report that unknown actor(s) fraudulently withdrew approximately $22,980 from the victim’s bank accounts. Patrolman Ryan Brady handled the report, which is pending further investigation.

On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at approximately 3:53 a.m., an 18-year-old Manalapan resident reported that an unknown actor threatened the victim if they were not paid money. Patrolman Peter Bylsma took the report, which is pending further investigation.
