553 Homes Without Power In Manalapan After Thunderstorms
Severe thunderstorms on Monday night caused over 44,000 Monmouth County residents to go without power.

MANALAPAN, NJ — A total of 533 Manalapan Township homes were still without power Tuesday morning, according to JCP&L after severe thunderstorms hit the area on Monday night.
The majority of affected households will have power restored by 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to an update from the township, although outages could last until 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
Monmouth County was one of the most affected in the state, with over 8,197 homes still without power as of 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. That number reached over 44,000 Monday night.

A total of 75,000 JCP&L customers were affected, according to a spokesman for the company. The hardest-hit areas were Atlantic Highlands, Union Beach, Middletown, Old Bridge and Marlboro. Damage is almost exclusively trees down on wires and broken poles.
The township urged residents to report any power outages and to stay away from downed wires even if they think they are not live.
