MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Police reported incidents of burglary, theft, a house fire and more from May 21 through May 27.

May 21
A 76-year-old Manalapan resident reported someone trying to fraudulently obtain $1,500 from the victim. The victim is at no monetary loss at this time.

A Manalapan business reported an act of vandalism on their property. The incident is pending further investigation.

May 22
A 22-year-old Manalapan resident reported that their cryptocurrency was taken out of their account by someone they did not know, resulting in $60,741.06 of monetary loss.

A 72-year-old Manalapan resident reported that they were contacted by two unknown people, one of whom was posing as Apple Security and the other posing as the Federal Trade Commission. The actors then tried to obtain $43,000 from the victim, who is not at a monetary loss at this time.

May 23
A 24-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone used their personal information to withdraw $3,500 from their checking account.

A 69-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone entered their home while they were away and stole numerous handbags, jewelry, cash and personal effects. At the time of the report, the total loss was unknown.

Three East Brunswick residents reported being involved in a physical altercation with multiple people while attending a party in Manalapan. All three sustained minor injuries.

May 24
A 63-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone scheduled an appointment for a disability claim using their Social Security number. At the time of the report, there was no monetary loss.

A 47-year-old Manalapan resident reported that their credit card was fraudulently charged $113.30.

May 26
An 84-year-old Manalapan resident reported that unknown actors stole their wallet containing credit cards, driver’s license, social security card and $2,000 in cash. The theft occurred sometime between May 20 and May 26, and the total loss is valued at approximately $2,000.

A 29-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone stole an all-terrain vehicle from the home. The victim is at a monetary loss of $3,500.

May 27
A 45-year-old Chesterfield, NJ, resident reported the theft of a Kubota excavator. It was reported that the excavator (valued at $37,225) was removed from a construction site in the area of Iron Ore Road. The excavator was later recovered a short distance from the construction site.

A 25-year-old Manalapan resident reported that an unknown actor fraudulently removed money from their bank account. The total amount of monetary loss by the victim is $9,200 at this time.

Around 7 p.m., patrol officers were called to a Manalapan home for a reported fire within a fan in the bathroom. Members of the Manalapan and Millstone Township Fire Companies responded and deemed the home safe after attending to the fire.
