Put on your dancing shoes for this day-long intergenerational event with live music.  Families will learn simple country dances such as Away to the Camp and The Hunting of the Fox, from 10:30 am to 11am. Adults (ages 12 and up) will learn 3-hand reel and cotillion, from 12-1:30pm. Partners are not necessary. In celebration of Monmouth 250 and National Puzzle Day, the Headquarters Library in Manalapan will be hosting a jigsaw puzzle competition on Saturday, January 31 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.&nbsp;
<hr>
Basics
<ul><li>All teams will be assigned a table and given the same American Revolution-themed 500-piece puzzle to be revealed at the start of the competition.</li><li>Teams may bring boxes, bowls, or trays to help sort puzzle pieces, subject to approval before the start of the competition. Two sorting aids per team are allowed.&nbsp;<ul><li>You may also use the box the puzzle comes in to sort pieces, which will not count towards your sorting aid total.</li><li>No other aids are allowed.&nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>Any questions about rules and their enforcement should be directed to library staff. Decisions of the library staff are final.&nbsp;</li></ul>
Conduct
<ul><li>Teams should behave courteously and refrain from loud conversation, impeding the areas of other teams, and anything that may disrupt other teams from working on their puzzles, or staff from overseeing the competition. Those who are disruptive will be disqualified.</li><li>Assistance from non-team members is not allowed. The competition area will be closed to those not participating in the competition.&nbsp;</li><li>There will be no breaks, but individuals may use the restroom or take breaks as long as they are not disruptive to other teams. Time will not be given back for breaks.&nbsp;</li></ul>
Winning
<ul><li>The first team to finish will win. If no one completes the puzzle in the allotted time, then the team with the least number of pieces left will win. There will be a 2-hour time limit.&nbsp;<ul><li>In the event of a tie, there will be a 5-minute sudden death round that will allow the tied teams to try to finish the puzzle. If no one finishes in that time, then the team with the least number of pieces left will win.&nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>Upon puzzle completion, the team should raise their hands and say "FINISHED!" so staff can record the time of completion. Puzzles will be checked to confirm they have been assembled correctly before the winner is finalized, and other teams should continue to work on their puzzles until then.&nbsp;</li></ul>
Registration is required and space is limited. Teams can be up to four people. Enter with your family, a group of friends, or as an individual to be assigned a team on the day of the event. Must be 12 years old or older to register individually. Younger children may register on a team with their parent or guardian. Please arrive 30 minutes ahead of time to check-in. Registration is limited to 25 teams/100 individuals.&nbsp;

A night dedicated to our military veterans who heeded their country’s call to arms and went to war from Vietnam to the current day war on global terror. In too many instances they came home to a country that didn’t care about their service and a world that didn’t want to hear about their experiences. Their post war stories and struggles were often forgotten or marginalized. It is time to shine a light on their strength, resilience, and grit. Finally, to honor all veterans, prisoners of war, the missing in action, and their families who have sacrificed so much – we see you and we thank you.
The idea for Dogs2DogTags (D2DT) came to Torre Willadsen when he was deployed as a civilian contractor working with military dogs in 2012. During his time with the 7th Marines, he developed close bonds with both dogs and dog handlers. Torre saw firsthand the profound effect a dog could have on a wounded man’s frame of mind during a difficult time. D2DT rescues, trains, and places dogs with deserving service members who have been diagnosed with post-combat stress and anxiety. The purpose is to provide the veteran with a free, trained dog that can help them cope with their unique challenges in everyday life.
Unlike the heroes welcome during World War II, warriors of Vietnam to modern day came home in the shadows. Their post war experiece left many feeling alone and isolated, especially for those who's wounds are not visible. Likewise, approximately 3.3 million dogs are entered into animal shelters each year, with an average of 400,000 of them ending up being euthanized. Since 2023 euthanasia has been on the rise due to shelter over crowding, lower adoption rates, and the long term effects of suspended spay and neuter efforts during the pandemic. This Gala hopes to save two souls at once. It is time for the forgotten to be remembered.
All proceeds from the event go directly to the charitable nonprofit organization D2DT, supporting their mission to rescue both our warriors and man's best friend. #D2DT

Experience the dynamic sound of over 60 musicians performing together for your enjoyment! The Colts Neck Community Band presents a program of America musical selections in celebration of our country's 250th anniversary. Hailed as one of the finest concert bands in New Jersey, these talented musicians come from a variety of backgrounds and represent every age group, from high school students to senior citizens. They will perform under the batons of conductors Mel Cheyette, Marty Griffin, Eric Robertshaw, and Don Swinchoski.
