Man Flees After Car Burglary Attempt In Manalapan

A Manalapan resident told police someone accessed a car parked in his driveway on Abilene Lane; the person then fled the area in a BMW.

MANALAPAN, NJ — An afternoon car burglary was reported in the township.

A resident reported that on Sept. 30 at about 4:29 p.m. an unknown person got access to an unlocked car parked in the driveway of the resident's home on Abilene Lane, police said.

The suspect fled the area in a white BMW X7. No monetary loss was reported as a result of the incident. Patrolman Edward Burns handled the report.

Township police periodically remind residents to keep car doors locked and to remove valuables from inside cars.

In another incident, a 22-year-old resident of Brooklyn on Sept. 27 told police that an unknown Manalapan towing company removed his car from a Brooklyn mechanic's lot. He told police the car was valued at $5,300. Patrolman Hunter Mauro handled the report, which is pending further investigation.
