ENGLISHTOWN, NJ — As the summer season starts to come to a close, “Fast & Furious” star Sung Kang is preparing to get behind the wheel to film a new project in New Jersey, and he's inviting the public to be part of it.

On Aug. 23 and Aug. 24, Kang will be filming his movie “DRIFTER” as part of the Legends of Drift event at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, the actor announced in an online post.

According to the Legends of Drift website, the event will be “a full weekend of drift competition, car culture and the filming of ‘Drifter,’” which has been described as a new movie and passion project by Kang.

Drifting is a sport and driving technique where the driver purposely oversteers while still maintaining control and drives the car through the entirety of a corner or turn.

Kang will be in attendance at the event, alongside professional drift car driver Adam LZ, auto racing analyst and TV show host Rutledge Wood, drifter Luke Fink and more.

Part of "Drifter" will be filmed in front of a crowd at the event, and Kang is inviting fans to join in on the movie experience.

“This is it — I’m making my dream project: a movie about drifting, made with real people, real cars, and the real car community,” Kang said of the film shoot in an online post. “...One of the best parts? You get to be involved.”

“If you’ve ever loved drifting, car culture, or just that feeling of being part of something bigger, I hope you’ll come out and join us,” Kang said. “Who knows… maybe you’ll even make it into the movie.”

The Legends of Drift event will run from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 23 and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 24.

Tickets for individual days are $47.25 and $83.25 for the weekend overall (tickets can be purchased here).

In addition to his role as Han Lue in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, Kang is also known for the film “Bullet to the Head” in 2012 and for work in TV shows such as “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Lisey’s Story.”
