Fraud, Simple Assault, Harassment: Manalapan Police Blotter
Manalapan Police reported five incidents of fraud from July 30 to Aug. 5.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Police reported incidents of fraud, simple assault, harassment and more from July 30 through Aug. 5.
July 30
An 85-year-old Manalapan resident received a fraudulent letter in the mail, which referenced a fraudulent loan agreement requesting the resident to contact a phone number for final notice. The resident did not contact the number, and no monetary loss was reported.
July 31
A 60-year-old Manalapan resident reported that an argument ensued with two other Manalapan residents (a 48-year-old and a 47-year-old). The verbal argument allegedly turned physical with no reported injuries and no complaints.

A 29-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone they did not know called their phone and posed as law enforcement, advising the victim that they had an active warrant and owed money. The victim then transferred the money to the accused, with a total loss of value of $1,507.48.
Aug. 1
Employees from a distribution company in Manalapan reported fraudulent emails that were being sent to their clients. The email address was pretending to be one of the employees asking to send money to a bank account. No clients sent any money to the fraudulent email.

A 25-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone they did not know opened a credit card using their information. The person tried to make a purchase for $300, which was declined. The victim reported no monetary loss at this time.
Around 9 p.m., patrols responded to Mainbrook Tavern for a report of a hit-and-run accident. After further investigation, the driver of the accused vehicle was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs. The driver was brought to Manalapan Police Headquarters to be processed and released on a summons with a future court date.
Aug. 4
Around 2:50 a.m., patrols responded to a business on Union Hill Road for a report of a disorderly person. Once patrols arrived, a 21-year-old Princeton, NJ resident reported engaging in a verbal argument with a 27-year-old Keyport, NJ resident. The argument, at some point, became physical, which resulted in the Princeton resident reporting that they were assaulted. No complaints were signed.
An 89-year-old Manalapan resident reported that they were approached by their neighbor, a 63-year-old Manalapan resident, who subsequently threw dirt at them and kicked them in the leg. Ongoing issues were reported between the parties involved.
Aug. 5
A 62-year-old Manalapan resident reported that they were being harassed by someone they knew via text messages and phone calls.
A 66-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone they did not know tried to purchase a Cricket phone from AT&T for $44.65 using their credit card. No monetary loss was reported.
