Freehold Regional HS District Schools To Close Early For Heat

High temps to again bring early dismissal Thursday for Freehold Regional students, attending six high schools in Western Monmouth County.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Freehold Regional High School District will have a second day of early dismissal Thursday due to predicted high temperatures.

All district schools had an early dismissal schedule on Wednesday and the same is planned for Thursday, Sept. 7, the district said in a notice on its home page.

The National Weather Service has said temperatures are expected to dip slightly on Thursday with a high near 92 degrees. But Wednesday was the hottest day of the year, the agency said.

There won't be a break until Friday, when there is a chance of thunderstorms and highs around 85 degrees.

The regional district, the largest in Monmouth County, with offices in Manalapan, serves more than 10,000 students in six high schools: Manalapan, Marlboro, Howell, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township and Colts Neck high schools.

Early schools (Freehold, Howell and Manalapan high schools) dismiss at 12 p.m.

Late schools (Colts Neck, Freehold Township and Marlboro high schools) dismiss at 12:54 p.m.

There is no lunch served during the early dismissal schedule, the announcement said.

After-school activities will remain as scheduled with any necessary adjustments made due to the weather, the announcement said.

Freehold Regional High School Districts plan to resume the regular schedule on Friday, Sept. 8, as the forecast calls for a break in the heat, the district said.
