Manalapan Announces 9/11 Memorial Ceremony Plans

The 20th anniversary of the attacks on the twin towers will be marked with a ceremony. See here how to attend.

MANALAPAN, NJ — For the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Manalapan Township is holding a memorial ceremony at Town Hall at 11 a.m. on Sept. 11.

This year commemorative pins will be given out instead of candles.

Later in the day, the Monmouth County shoreline will light up with cellphones from residents and elected officials.

The plan is to get everyone to turn on their lights at 8:46 p.m, honoring "the heroes" of Sept.11, 2001.

The Board of County Commissioners is also inviting families of Monmouth County 9/11 victims to attend a Memorial Ceremony at 8 a.m. at Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook, at 460 Ocean Boulevard, Atlantic Highlands.
