Manalapan HS Student's 'Remarks' Prompt Weekend Alert To Parents
"Concerning remarks" made by a student last week were "not credible" and no cause for alarm, Manalapan High School principal said Friday.
MANALAPAN, NJ — The Manalapan High School principal assured parents in a statement Friday afternoon that "concerning remarks" by a student "do not seem credible."
Principal Shawn Currie released the statement with the Manalapan Police Department.
The statement read: "In order to avoid any public alarm, . . . we are informing our school community that we were made aware of concerning remarks made by a student.

"These remarks were immediately identified as a possible threat by the administration and are under investigation by the Manalapan Police Department and do not seem to be credible."
Currie continued: "As always, we are mindful of student confidentiality, but to alleviate any unrest, we are sharing this information. To that end, we request that everyone be mindful not to circulate or interpret rumors or speculative information as true. As always, the health and safety of all our students and staff is our foremost concern."

Police had no further comment on the statement on Monday, and high school hours Monday were unaffected by the information released on Friday, a district employee said.
