Manalapan Police Join Hundreds In Paying Last Respects For Fallen NYPD Officer

Police officers from several Monmouth County departments paid tribute to slain NYPD Officer Rafael Ramon at his funeral Saturday morning.

Hundreds of New Jersey’s finest have joined their New York partners in paying final respects for slain NYPD Officer Rafael Ramos at his funeral Saturday morning.

According to a message posted on the Hazlet Township Police Department Facebook page, police officers from Hazlet, Holmdel, Middletown, Matawan, Marlboro, Long Branch, Howell, Red Bank, Deal, the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department, and the New Jersey Department Of Corrections in honoring fallen NYPD Officer Rafael Ramos and standing “shoulder to shoulder with NYPD officers” during the services as a sign of solidarity.

Ramos, 40, and his parter, Officer Wen Jian Liu, 32, were killed Saturday, Dec. 20 in an execution-style murder. The gunman later committed suicide.

Other police departments that attended the funeral expressed their support of the New York Police Department, which is still reeling from the execution-style murders anddealing with continued protests against alleged police brutality nationwide.

The Howell Township Police 911 Communications Facebook page stated in a post:

“Although we wear different uniforms we are one in the same. Today, the officers of the Howell Police Department mourn the loss but celebrate the life of New York City Police Officer Rafael Ramos.”

”Our hearts are heavy, stay strong during this tough time,” the Middletown NJ Fire/EMS News Facebook page stated in a post December 27.

New Jersey officers even traveled with cops from as far away as Michigan, according to the Matawan Police Department.

“The Matawan Police Department had the great honor tonight to welcome the Detroit Police Department into our state,” a Facebook post stated. “Officer Jay Borsari met with the Detroit officers who were on their way to pay their respects to fallen NYPD Officers and Ramos and Liu. ”

The Matawan Police Department also posted a photo showing Lieutenant Tom Falco placing NYPD decals on a squad car.

The department stated that they will be displaying the decals on all of their squad cars for the rest of the winter season, according to the post.
