Monroe Obituary: Alfred Stein, 84

Services for Alfred H. Stein, 84, of Monroe Township, N.J., who died Sunday at his residence, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Ave., Manalapan, N.J. The period of mourning will be observed at the Stein residence through Wednesday.

Born and raised on the south side of Newark, N.J., Alfred had lived in Monroe Township for the last 15 years, and previously in Monsey, N.Y., for 36 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Navy. A graduate of the South Side High School in Newark, Stein went on to graduate from Seton Hall University with a bachelor of science degree in business. Alfred was a founding member of the N.J. Masters Swim Team.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Leah (nee Friedman); daughters, Judith (Patrick) Coleman, and Melinda Stein; a son, Neil (Kristine) Stein; and eight grandchildren. Memorial donations to the Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
