Police Presence Increased at Manalapan-Englishtown Schools
The Manalapan Police Department is elevating security of elementary schools in light of the Newtown tragedy.

The Manalapan Police Department has informed the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District that police presence at district schools will be heightened in the wake of the .
A Manalapan Police officer will be present at each of the schools at the beginning of the day and at dismissal "to the extent that this is possible given the day-to-day responsibilities of the department", a statement issued by district Superintendent John Marciante said.
Police officers will also coordinate random walk throughs of each school every day and officers will drive through school parking lots from time to time while on duty.

Access to school buildings will continue to be monitored and only people with a legitimate purpose to be inside of the school will be allowed entrance, Marciante stipulated.
