Theft, Fraud, Harassment: Manalapan Police Blotter

Manalapan Police reported five theft-related incidents from Dec. 18 through Dec. 23.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Police reported incidents of theft, fraud, harassment and more from Dec. 18 through Dec. 23.

Dec. 18
A 47-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone stole items worth $2,590 from a package while in transit to a UPS store.

A 78-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone tried to gain access to their bank accounts. No monetary loss was reported as a result of the incident.

A 38-year-old Manalapan resident reported that a package worth $219.26 was stolen from the front porch of an Apache Drive home sometime on Dec. 8.

Dec. 19
A 35-year-old Manalapan resident reported that items worth $220 were taken from a vehicle parked at a Brookview Lane home sometime between Dec. 17 and Dec. 19.

Christopher Tyler, 65, of Manalapan, was arrested and charged with various narcotic-related offenses, including possession of controlled dangerous substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a weapon while in possession of controlled dangerous substances, and possession of prescription legend drugs. Tyler was brought to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and turned over to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a court appearance.

Dec. 20
An 81-year-old Manalapan resident reported being defrauded of $18,000 online.

A 43-year-old Hamilton resident reported that lumber worth $270 was stolen from a construction site on Harper Lane in Manalapan sometime between Dec. 18 and Dec. 20.

Dec. 21
Patrolman Christopher Schou responded to a Pension Road home for a report of a shed fire.

The Manalapan Fire Company, Englishtown Fire Company, Gordon’s Corner Fire Company and Monroe Fire Department reported and extinguished the fire, which appeared to be accidental in nature. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Dec. 22
A 34-year-old South Amboy resident reported being harassed by a co-worker on Dec. 19.

Employees of the Valero Gas Station, located at 391 Route 9 in Manalapan, reported that someone stole $20 worth of gasoline from the business.

A 47-year-old Manalapan resident reported being defrauded of $360 via Facebook Marketplace.

Dec. 23
An 18-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone unsuccessfully tried to extort $100 from them via social media.

A 63-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone fraudulently rented multiple vehicles using their personal information. No monetary loss was reported as a result of the incident, which is pending further investigation.
