Veolia Water NJ Completes Acquisition Of Manalapan Water System
The acquisition of the town's water system comes after residents voted to approve the sale in a November 2024 referendum.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Veolia Water NJ has officially completed its acquisition of the Manalapan Township Water System, the company recently announced.
On Thursday, Veolia representatives and township officials participated in a ceremony at the Manalapan Township Municipal Complex to commemorate the acquisition.
The newly acquired water system will serve about 3,500 homes and businesses throughout town, officials said.

With the new water system, Veolia said customers can expect enhanced operational efficiency, improved water quality monitoring, attentive customer service and infrastructure investments to ensure long-term system reliability.

- Vital water main and valve replacements
- Construction of a new state-of-the-art drinking water treatment facility with advanced treatment technologies
- Water storage tank restoration projects
“We are thrilled to officially welcome the Manalapan community into Veolia’s operation,” said Alan Weland, regional president of Veolia Water NJ. “In line with our GreenUp strategic program, this acquisition represents a significant milestone in our commitment to providing exceptional water services and infrastructure improvements in the region.”
“We thank the residents, the Township Committee and regulatory authorities for their support throughout this process,” Weland continued. “Our focus now shifts to implementing the critical infrastructure upgrades that will ensure reliable, high-quality water service.”
Veolia’s acquisition of the Manalapan Township Water System comes after a referendum in November 2024, where voters approved the sale. The company’s purchase of the system was approved on Sept. 10 by the NJ Board of Public Utilities.
The sale marks the Veolia's sixth acquisition in New Jersey since 2018, officials said.
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for our water infrastructure,” Mayor Eric Nelson said. “Veolia's proven track record and commitment to excellence gives us confidence that our residents will benefit from enhanced service reliability and water quality improvements for years to come."
In the coming days, company officials said Manalapan customers should receive welcome packets with additional information on the water system transition in the mail.
