One woman was revived by firefighters and paramedics and was in critical condition, fire department spokesman said.
ASBURY PARK, NJ - A man and a woman were pulled from the pounding surf off Deal Lake Drive on Wednesday afternoon, and one is in critical condition, according to a report in app.com.
Both were taken to the hospital, said fire department spokesman Garrett M. Giberson.
The man made it to the beach, but the woman was still submerged when she was spotted. She was located by firefighters after they entered the water. The 42-year-old Asbury Park woman was unconscious when she was rescued by firefighter Christian Stevens, Giberson said.

"The message is stay out of the water," Giberson told app.com."I can’t express it enough, there are no lifeguards on duty. They’re off duty the season has ended, The water is going to be dangerous for several days now."
The National Weather Service Wednesday predicted life-threatening rip currents and wave heights up to six feet. Similar conditions are expected for much of the risk of the week, due to Hurricane Jose.
