Belmar Firefighters Save Seagull Stuck In Fishing Wire In Tree
Belmar residents heard the bird crying for help. It was stuck upside down in a tree, tangled in fishing wire.
BELMAR, NJ — Belmar firefighters saved a seagull stuck in a tree Monday morning, according to the Monmouth County SPCA.
It was residents who live nearby who heard the seagull crying for help. The bird was tangled in fishing wire in the tree. The SPCA posted video to their Facebook page of the bird stuck in the wire.
"Neighbors could hear her crying for help," wrote the SPCA.

The Belmar Police and Fire Dept. put an extended ladder into the tree to free the gull.
"She was finally untangled from the wire and branches and safely brought back down to the ground," said the SPCA.

The seagull is currently resting at the Monmouth County SPCA headquarters in Eatontown, where she is expected to make a full recovery. The bird will be released back into the wild.
