A Belmar man will appear in Superior Court Thursday for his initial appearance after being charged with aggravated assault. Michael A. Brooks, 21, of 5th Avenue was arrested Friday in Neptune and accused of striking a woman. Brooks is accused of punching the woman in the face, leaving her with five stitches and a chipped tooth, according to a complaint filed by Neptune police.  Bail was set at $35,000, 10 percent option allowed. Brooks is forbidden from contacting the victim as a condition of bail.
