Belmar Officials Pressuring Group To Cancel "Bartoberfest" Coming Up On Oct. 21
Officials say event will pose a danger to public safety.

BELMAR, NJ — Belmar officials say they will take the organizers of "Bartoberfest" to court unless they cancel the event dubbed as "the largest charity bar crawl the town has ever seen," according to a report in tapintonet.
Belmar attorney Gregory Cannon notified the president of Wall-based Shore Point Distributing that the borough wants the event canceled due to safety concerns and the failure to obtain permits.
“The presence of hundreds, possibly thousands, of intoxicated visitors walking and crossing borough streets and state highways without sufficient advance warning to the borough police department creates an enormous public safety risk in our town,” Cannon wrote in a letter to Shore Point. “The borough’s paramount concern is public safety when it comes to these types. “Your failure to abide by the borough code will undoubtedly create risks for the public should the event go forward."
