Budget, Pot Biz Ban, Potential Referendum On Agenda For Belmar
A petition asking for a public vote on an ordinance passed last month garnered 424 signatures from registered voters in the town.

BELMAR, NJ – The Belmar borough will be holding two important public hearings, plus they will be hearing a petition asking for a referendum on a recent ordinance passed regarding the former Belmar First Aid Building.
According to a post on the Belmar First Aid Facebook page, the petition asking for a referendum vote on the ordinance approved last month to give the borough to option to use eminent domain, if needed, to acquire the First Aid Building was filed last week and had 424 signatures on it.
In addition to the petition, the council will also be holding public hearings on adopting the 2021 budget, which, when introduced back in May, showed no increase in the municipal tax rate and an ordinance that would ban all cannabis-related businesses in the borough.
