Coastal Monmouth County Beach Report For May 31, 2017
The rip current risk is low today, but surf temperatures are still chilly.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly cloudy skies today with areas of fog. There a slight chance of showers, thunderstorms and patchy drizzle.
Temperatures will be in the low 70s, slighter higher than yesterday. Winds will be from the northeast at about five miles per hour, becoming south in the afternoon. The lightning threat is moderate, which means that thunderstorms are possible.
There's a low risk of rip currents today. But they can still occur, especially near jetties and other structures. The NWS advises you always have a flotation device with you in the water. The water temperature is still a chilly 58 degrees.

Waves will be around four feet, with easterly swells of three feet. The ultraviolet index is a 6, which the NWS considers high.
Low tide at Belmar arrived at 6:46 a.m. High tide is expected at 1:06 p.m., followed by another low tide at 7 p.m.
