County To Address Beach Reopenings In Belmar

County officials will address plans to reopen local beaches during a press conference in Belmar.

BELMAR – County officials will address plans over the next week to reopen local beaches during a press conference in Belmar.

The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders and tourism partners will hold a press conference at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 18, on the Belmar Boardwalk near the Taylor Pavilion, 500 Ocean Ave.

On behalf of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Division of Tourism, will announce tourism industry statistics for 2019 in Monmouth County as well as beach regulations to anticipate as New Jersey begins to lift restrictions prompted by COVID-19.

Belmar Mayor Mark Walsifer will also make remarks on behalf of the Shore region municipalities.

The summer season brings day, weekend and weeklong visitors to Monmouth County beaches, boardwalks and businesses, which include dining, entertainment, recreation, lodging, retail and transportation.
