Belmar Mayor Doherty Wins Re-election; Manasquan Democrats Win

Here are the election results as of 7:30 a.m.

For the two seats up for election on the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, candidates for 2014 were: Republicans Lillian G. Burry and Gary J. Rich, and Democrats Larry Luttrell and Joe Grillo. Results were too close to call as of 11:00 p.m.

In Belmar, the mayor’s race is between Republican James Bean and the current mayor, Democrat Matthew Doherty. Results show Mayor Doherty winning, with 55% of the vote.

In Belmar, there is also one seat up for election on the Borough Council, and the candidates are Republican Michael Seebeck and Democrat Thomas Brennan. Results show Brennan winning with 50 percent of the vote.

There are three seats for election on the Belmar Board of Education, and the three people on the ballot are Mark Furey, Mark Walsifer, and Rebecca Herbert. With no other candidates contesting the seats, each candidate was re-elected.

In Manasquan, there are two seats up for election on the Borough Council, with the three candidates for election being Republican Barbara A. McCredie and Democrats Jeffrey K. Lee and Michael W. Mangan. Results show Lee and Mangan winning with 35 and 33 percent of the vote, respectively.

For the Board of Education in Manasquan, there are three seats up for election, with the candidates being: Eugene Cattani, Jr.; Colleen Smith; Linda DiPalma; Donna Bossone; and Jeanne Petillo. Results show Smith, Cattani, and DiPalma winning.
