Manasquan Suspends Recreation After Local COVID Outbreak (UPDATE)
Several beach and recreation employees have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, officials said.
MANASQUAN – Several beach and recreation employees have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, prompting Manasquan to suspend its recreation programs for a week, according to Michael Mangan, the council president.
The beaches remain open. A recreation counselor and a guards counselor were among those diagnosed.
Mangan said employees working at Manasquan Beach and Recreation may have been exposed to this virus. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the virus spreads mainly between people who are within about 6 feet for a prolonged period of time, or 10 minutes or more.

"We can assure you that the Borough of Manasquan is taking this news very seriously and as such reacting accordingly," the borough said. "We have strong policies in place in an effort to minimize the spread of this virus.
The outbreak may have had an impact on the high school baseball program.

No one willing to comment on the record, but the Manasquan withdrawl is said to be COVID-19 related. Allegedly there was a grad party or parties that resulted in spreading the virus and players were in attendance. Not confirmed whether any actually tested positive themselves.

The staff has been contact tracing to ensure the safety of staff, residents and visitors, the town said.
Using scheduling and daily reports, these people who share the greatest risk of exposure have been identified, contacted and advised of recommended procedures, the borough said.
The Manasquan Beach and Recreation Department will continue taking measures to ensure the safety of employees and the public, the town said.
That means "continuing to enforce our policies on social distancing, usage of protective equipment, bathroom monitoring and cleaning as well as sanitization of all equipment each day during this coronavirus outbreak," the borough said.
