Monmouth County Beach Report: Choppy Seas, High Rip Current Risk Continues

Mostly cloudy skies, cooler temperatures expected for today.

The remnants of Hurricane Jose are still with us. The National Weather Service is calling for a high risk of rip currents, along with choppy seas.

Potentially life-threatening conditions exist for anyone even thinking about going in the water. Wave heights will be around 4 to 5 feet, with easterly swells of 4 feet. People visiting the beaches should stay out of the high surf.

The high rip current risk will be in effect until at least this evening. The ocean water temperature is 69 degrees.

Skies today will be mostly cloudy, with highs in the upper 70s. Winds will be from the north at 15 miles per hours.

The ultraviolet index is a 6, which the National Weather Service considers high. There is no lighting threat.

High tide at Belmar rolled in at 9:23 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 3:30 p.m., followed by another high tide at 9:38 p.m.
