Monmouth County Beach Report: Jose Continues To Churn Ocean Waters, High Rip Current Risk

The remnants of Hurricane Jose will continue to impact Monmouth County beaches, with dangerous rip currents and wave heights up to 6 feet, the National Weather Service says.

The high rip current risk means life-threatening and dangerous rip currents are present. No one should be swimming, especially since most beaches are unguarded at this time of year.

Waves will be from 4 to 6 feet, with easterly swells of 5 to 6 feet. The ocean water temperature is 69 degrees.
Jose is slowly moving away from New Jersey, but rough surf, intense rip currents and extensive beach erosion will continue for the next several days.

Skies today will be mostly cloudy, with highs around 80 degrees. Winds will be from the north at 15 to 20 miles per hour.

The ultraviolet index is a 6, which the NWS considers high. There is no lightning threat today.

High tide at Belmar rolled in at 7:57 a.m. Low tide will arrived at 2:02 p.m., followed by another high tide at 8:12 p.m.
