Monmouth County Beach Report: Wave Heights Of 8 to 10 Feet, High Rip Current Risk

Waves at Monmouth County beaches will be dangerously high, thanks to Hurricane Jose lurking about 270 miles offshore of Atlantic City this morning.

The National Weather Services is calling for wave heights of 8 to 10 feet, with easterly swells of 6 feet. The ocean water temperature is 70 degrees.

The rip current risk is high, which means potentially life-threatening conditions are present for anyone who decides today is a good day to go swimming.

"People visiting the beaches should stay out of the high surf," the NWS says.

Most beaches in Ocean and Monmouth County are unguarded on weekdays this late in the season. Fall is just a few days away. So please don't even think about going in.

A coastal flood warning is in effect until 1 am. on Wednesday. Widespread roadway flooding is expected and minor property damage is possible, especially around this evening's high tide. Significant beach erosion is expected.

Highs today will be in the mid 70s. Light to moderate showers are expected. North winds will be brisk at 25 to 30 miles per hour.

The ultraviolet index is a 3, which the National Weather Service considers moderate. There is no lightning threat today.

High tide at Belmar rolled in at 7:12 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 1:15 p.m., followed by another high tide at 7:28 p.m.
